Here I will chronicle the building of a small hoop coop to be used as a brooder house. I am trying to spend the least amount of cash possible at this time. The coop must be weather proof and totally predator proof. If you already have a predator proof area to site you coop in, then you will not need to do as much as I am doing.

The base of the coop is made of four 2x6's, 10' long. I think the boards are actually 10' 1".
The framework is PVC coldwater pipe, 20' long just bent over and screwed to the wood on the inside of the frame. There is a third pipe to go into the center.
Here is the coop covered with concrete reinforcing mesh 6x6 inches which is then covered with chicken wire. The door is an old metal one out of the junk pile.
Here is the coop covered in plastic. The ends are open on the top half for ventilation.
Chicks hatched Nov 16 enjoyed a day out in the coop while I was working on it. I still have more to do out there, but will hopefully be all done soon. (The gold and black chick and the black & white ones are from Barred Rock hens and a Buff Orpington rooster. The two black ones hiding in the back are Black Copper Marans. I have more BCM in the house that will be joining these guys real soon.
