Yes, it does Snow in the Desert!

Snow in the desert.
It rained all yesterday morning, then late in the afternoon the rain turned to big fat flakes of snow. This is looking out my front door towards the north early this morning.

Ooops. I forgot to put the crossbar on the top of this trellis and the snow freezing to the chicken wire has made it sag. So glad the peas are just sprouting, I have time to fix it when things warm up!

    I know it can get very very cold in the desert

    Yes it can and the temperature difference between the day's high and the overnight low can be huge. Once the sun begins to go down it gets really cold around here in the winter!

    The buildings on the far away hills are part of a copper mine. That big building is probably 300 feet long. I'm not sure what they do in that one nowadays, but I think it used to be what they called the 'concentrator'. They had some way of concentrating the copper ore or separating out at least part of what didn't contain copper back 'in the day'. They do things differently at most mines now, using sulfuric acid and electricity to get the copper out of the ore. Then it still goes to the smelter where they are able to get it pretty pure.
