small broccoli shoots |
This week some interesting things are beginning to happen, the tatsoi bolted before I got to it, so it became rabbit feed. Several broccoli plants had small (quarter size) heads and I feared they would also bolt so I cut them all. I had them stir fried with leftover pork roast, stems, leaves and all, they were quite tasty.

When I get home it will also be time to ramp up the spring plantings, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants as usual, but also some leeks, more garlic chives, more lettuce, spring carrots and beets. It's been quite warm and hovering just above freezing at night. The peach and the plum tree are in full bloom and I suppose the apples won't be too far behind them. Hopefully we won't get any late snow storms to take them all.
Your peas are beautiful. The seeds you sent have sprouted and are looking good. Can't wait for those pretty purple flowers!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Some of mine were eaten down by rabbits and my newest planting the birds got into.... So I will probably only have a few this year ;-(
DeleteWow, you have pea sprouts already, they are beautiful. My sweet pea flowers are pricking through the soil, but I haven't started the edible peas yet, maybe I should just take a chance and sow the seeds before leaving for vacation.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Vegas.
You are worried about over grown peas and I haven't even started to turn over my soil. Pretty pea flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe peas look very happy.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to be enjoying pea flowers and sprouts! I hope you have a good trip and that the peas are putting on more for you when you return.
ReplyDeleteThose peas are great - its almost time for sowing them here. I hope mine look as good as yours.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you can use the fruit, flowers and stalks of different veggies in cooking.
ReplyDeleteLike your pea shoots and flower. I have been meaning to try pea shoots but did not managed to do it yet since each year when the pea shoots were available we had other stuff that needed to harvest quickly. You have just remind me to start sow some peas now as we just enter autumn and the weather has cool down.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time at Las Vegas...
