Harvest Monday

This weeks greens included Perpetual Spinach chard, Red Burgundy Amaranth and sorrel. A hand full of Royal Burgundy beans and some Princepe Borghese tomatoes along with eggs.





Pearl Oyster Mushrooms
In addition I harvested my first Pearl Oyster Mushrooms. I wish I could say they were wonderful, but they were incredibly bitter. I am corresponding with the company and apparently I did a couple of things wrong. I'll write more about this another day, as I'm short of time this morning and this week is going to be really really busy for me.

I did fix the little chickens pen so that they could go in and out and mix with the older hens but so the big girls couldn't get in. Mostly the biggest and bravest ones come out, the two smaller ones tend to stay in the smaller pen. There was a bit of squawking and the little girls get some pecks on the head, especially if they get too close to some treats but nobody seems to be really getting hurt.

I have to run now but will try and post some of my other garden pictures in a day or two.

    I love picture above! It's such a colorful display with purple beans and red tomatoes over greens. I'm sorry to hear your mushroom experiment didn't work out the way you hoped.

    Sorry the mushrooms were not great... will be interesting to hear what apparently went wrong. Beautiful mix of harvest items this week.

    That is a lovely mix of harvest. I'm missing having beans and tomatoes already....it might be a long winter.....

    The pearl oyster mushrooms I harvested yesterday and cooked in a stir fry dish today were extremely bitter too.
    I just wrote to the folks I bought the kit from. I'd appreciate feedback from you as to what went wrong with yours. What a disappointment!
