My Edible Garden

I've been gardening for most of my life and have been a devoted fan of organic gardening the whole time. It just makes so much more sense to work in harmony with Mother Nature than to fight her. Besides which it is better for the planet and better for our bodies. Here you can see what I'm planting and harvesting, with gardening hints and resources thrown in for good measure.

Been a long hot week

The flowers are picking up

Okra

Picked the first Trombonccino plus Armenian cucumber, zucchini and patty pan

Seeds planted are popping up

Made some yogurt

Posie gave me bit of a scare with some super rapid breathing. It was a super hot afternoon like 110 very humid and no breeze at all. She was much better when it finally cooled down and the next evening was her usual trouble making self.

With the heat plus the heavy rain a couple weeks ago I’m seeing signs of coccidiosis in some chicks. Most are doing ok but these two are down. Giving some milk and hope they make it.

The flies oh man the flies. I have about 25 fly traps out right now and they aren’t even making a dent. This trap has only been up about 48 hours. And it’s not just me, apparently the whole state has issues.

Mr coyote comes by every afternoon. The red arrows point him out.

First tarantula of the season

Today I appreciate the much cooler temperatures

And The Weekend

This garden is really getting out of hand

So while picking tomatoes (can you see them?) I worked on cleaning it up.

And I got a little bit done.

Then I cleared out the rest of a bed in another garden.  Added some soil amendments

Had to repair a couple drip lines the squirrels tried to eat.

Sorted out some seeds and planted

Put in beets, carrots, kale mix, red mustard. Covered with shade cloth and bird netting.

Hauled feed and hay.

Did the usual chores. Can’t decide if this cloud looks more like a chicken or a chubby eagle.

#appreciation
Just appreciating the abundance.
