My Edible Garden

I've been gardening for most of my life and have been a devoted fan of organic gardening the whole time. It just makes so much more sense to work in harmony with Mother Nature than to fight her. Besides which it is better for the planet and better for our bodies. Here you can see what I'm planting and harvesting, with gardening hints and resources thrown in for good measure.

My Crazy Life 6/5/2020

Some smaller chicks escaped their tractor. More than once.

I had to zip tie the lid switch for the washer back together.

The biggest chicks need more space. I have the stuff just need more time to build 4 more tractors.

I was attacked by a mean cock while bent over checking a nest box. Both spurs to the top of my head. That one and another meaner are now fertilizing two new trees.  (Way too many flies and yellow jackets to process right now)

I also planted out oregano and lemon thyme around them.

My daughter brought me a box of orphaned potatoes to plant.

The silkies have a new pile of eggs. Don’t know how they’ll do in the heat but they will be broody anyway so might as well let them try.

The sunflowers are finally blooming

Ian and Posie like garden leftovers

The giant pumpkin vine is blooming. Some kind of bugs breeding in there. I’m afraid they might be stripped cucumber beetles which transmit a virus to the plants causing them to wilt and die. I’ll try and ID them for sure.

I dug a five gallon bucket of new potatoes and had to go back and dig more to fill orders.

I tried to cut off the end of my finger trimming up the garlic.

I forgot to take pictures but I took 3 ice chests full down to Superior for pickup tomorrow. Did errands, came home and worked until after dark getting ready for the Globe-Miami Farmers Market tomorrow. Still not all done but time to get some sleep.

#appreciation
Today I appreciated the clouds, the cool breeze and the few sprinkles we got.
