My Edible Garden

I've been gardening for most of my life and have been a devoted fan of organic gardening the whole time. It just makes so much more sense to work in harmony with Mother Nature than to fight her. Besides which it is better for the planet and better for our bodies. Here you can see what I'm planting and harvesting, with gardening hints and resources thrown in for good measure.

Farmer Friday 11/15/19

I started off the morning turning the compost. The temperature is coming down to 120-130°F so it’s almost done.

Time to start a new pile.

A nice surprise this morning. Broody mamma has resumed laying.

An even better surprise, a new pullet has joined the layers club.

Some mums are still hanging on.

Rosemary, oregano and sage are weekly staples, nearly year round. I also picked arugula, kale and red mustard but forgot to take pics. I had to cut out the green wave mustard because it was infested with aphids. I have ordered some biological inoculants so will wait until they are applied before I replant. Hopefully they will help eradicate the root knot nematodes also. Fingers crossed.
